Loving Sunnyside

We've tried to make serving others a family focus this school year.  The Loving Sunnyside initiative seemed like a good chance to put that into practice.  10 houses were picked by the initiative to receive a new coat of paint, and the 200+ people who showed up to help were divided and sent out to paint.  We got two coats of paint done on our house in about 4 hours, with snack and a lunch break.
I was a little worried about bring our kids with us, but truthfully I think they were at least as careful as all the high school kids who also came to help.

We adopted two boys this morning.  Reid and Ethan W needed an adult supervisor, and we had room in our van for them.
I think there were 5 or so different church congregations included, and high school sports teams and clubs.  It was refreshing to see so many give up their Saturday morning to help others.  The house we were assigned actually belonged to a lady who works with Ryan at his elementary school.  Honestly, we couldn't throw a rock in this town without hitting someone Ryan knows.  The joys of living in a small town, I guess.
