Monday started off with a trip to the orthodontist. Annie was getting brackets put on, and Maddie needed a quick little wire adjustment, so it wouldn't poke into her mouth so much. Now the twins have another physical commonality that keeps people guess which twin is which. Poor Annie. I gave her some Advil, made sure Ryan had some more to give her in a few hours, and dropped the kids off at school.
But I came back a couple hours later for the student of the month assembly. The students chosen had been very hush, hush, and I was sworn to secrecy. The teachers wanted it to be a surprise. Either we have very good girls, or I know a couple of teachers who are trying to butter up the new principal. The girls knew something was up when they saw I was there. But Annie thought it was Maddie, and Maddie thought it was Annie, so it was still a surprise that they were both picked for student of the month.
Ryan chose to have his role be just plain ol' dad, and let the assistant principal run the assembly.
Which of course meant that soon after the above picture was taken, he was called away to do some principal-y thing and he couldn't stay for the rest.
Annie was in a lot of pain by now. But I am proud of her for plastering a smile on her face for the picture.
