We got out of town Thursday, just as soon as Ryan got home from parent teacher conferences. The girls and I spent the day checking things off our packing list and picking up the house. When Ryan got home, he traded a tie and slacks for jeans and no tie, climbed into our packed car and we left for our hotel in Boise. We arrived about 10 pm Mountain Time.
We are avid Hotwire.com users, and our cheap hotel pick (with complementary breakfast) was pretty near the Boise airport. Which meant we listened to airplanes all night. We were ready to get out and move when we finally made it to Utah on Friday. Ryan's brother and his family live in a really nice housing development with a pathway next to a river. So we went for a walk and threw rocks.
We've been so excited to meet baby Cora. The girls love any chance to snuggle babies.
Saturday morning we watched the morning session of General Conference. It was going to be the only session we were actually going to watch. We weren't going to hang around and watch three sessions of conference on a non-travel days, but we did make sure to participate in the Solemn Assembly. With a new prophet, first presidency, and a couple new members of the quorum of the 12, it was a session of conference to remember, and one we should all participate in. This was the first one Elizabeth, Annie and Maddie will remember. Of course, that is what we thought until the rest of General Conference aired and more big news shook things up. President Nelson is hitting the ground running!
In the afternoon, we took the kids out and about. We get excited about silly things like H&M and the DI. Utah has a lot nicer used clothes than we do at home. We left with a bunch of new-to-us knee length shorts, and some skirts and dresses.
After dinner, the kids dyed eggs with their cousins. It was the night before Easter, after all. And some traditions should not be missed, even when you are out of town.
