Jam and jelly for days

I am trying to enjoy Ryan's attention while I have it.  Yesterday and today we made jam, and attempted blackberry jelly for the first time.  Our blackberries aren't quite "on" just yet, so we took the rest of the frozen ones from last year and put them in the steamer to make juice.  I think that is so much easier than what I used to see my Grandma do, with the smashed berries, and the drip through the cheese cloth method.  The jelly turned out just fine, and we are ready to try again when this year's berries are ready to go.
It really is nice to make jam with a partner, especially when you are canning it and not just freezing.  It's nice to have that extra set of hands.
